Administration and Council

The village government is under direction of a mayor and four council members elected to stagger 4-year terms and a full time Administrator. The governing body meets to conduct business on the second Tuesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. The meetings are held at the meeting room at the Village Offices at 108A Highway 54.

Maintenance

Logan Water Department: The water supply system consists of six basic wells that feed a central feeder line that is routed between the two water storage tanks. In the middle of the system there is a 300,000-gallon storage tank that supplies water in the high demand times. The wells draw water from the local aquifer, which is two to three hundred feet below ground level.

Logan Wastewater Department: The Village received $14,000,000.00 in funding from both the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development and the New Mexico Environment Department. The overall project consisted of the design and construction of a combination gravity and low-pressure sewer collection system, lift stations, force and gravity mains, and wastewater treatment ponds. The project extended sewer service to 75% of the population within the Village limits who were being serviced by septic tanks.

 

Logan Solid Waste Department: The Village Collection Center is located ½ mile south of the Village of Logan and accepts household waste, white metal goods and also yard waste.

Motor Vehicle Division

The Village of Logan is an agent for the New Mexico Motor Vehicle Division.  The staff can handle all vehicle and boat registrations, title transactions, driver licenses, and ID Cards. Office hours are from 8:00 to 11:30 and 1:00 to 3:30 Monday thru Friday.

Police department

The Logan Police Department is a full service department consisting of four full-time sworn officers. In addition to being fully certified New Mexico law enforcement officers thru the New Mexico Department of Public Service Training Bureau, they have advanced training in most areas of law enforcement including investigations, narcotics investigations, undercover work, evidence gathering, administrative issues and several other fields.

Each officer has a take home car, a department cell phone and is available for immediate call out if needed. At least one officer is on call 24 hours a day. At present officers are dispatched by Central Dispatch located in Tucumcari, NM which dispatches for all of the area agencies. The Logan Police Department works closely with the NM State Police, Quay County Sheriff's Department and the Ute Lake State Park officers.

Logan Ambulance Service

Mission Statement:

The Logan Ambulance Service is dedicated to serving our community by providing efficient and effective emergency medical care and transport with compassion and dignity.  We do this using highly trained, competent volunteers that take pride being part of our community.

We have provided service for 37 years and maintain 3 fully equipped ambulances that are housed in our centrally located EMS Station.  We are staffed with 14 volunteers that range from EMT-First Responders to Paramedics.  We maintain a 24-hour vigilance to ensure that every call for emergency assistance is answered in a timely manner with great professionalism.

Logan Fire Department

Mission Statement:

To save lives and protect property and the environment, while continuing to emphasize firefighter safety and well being while promoting fire prevention.

 

Logan Volunteer Fire Department protects 1200 citizens living in a rural area of 245 square miles with 30 active firefighters. With Ute Lake in our response area our population increases to over 3000 during the summer months. We have mutual-aid agreements with bordering departments, as well as being "on call" for the New Mexico Department of Forestry for urban wildfire interface. We operate out of 3 stations and have an ISO rating of 5.

Logan Medical Clinic

The Village of Logan is the sponsor of the Logan Medical Clinic and is funded through the New Mexico Department of Health Rural Primary Care Health Care Act. Currently the Village is contracted with Logan Medical Clinic to provide medical services to the residents of Logan and the surrounding communities. The clinic is staffed by L. Dell Willis, FNP-BC and Dr. Edward Cazzola, MD, Internal Medicine.

Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am to 5:30 pm and Friday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. The clinic is closed Friday afternoon. Appointments are encouraged and may be made by calling 575-487-9000. Walk-ins are accepted.
